Adventure
Cycling is a non-profit organization which specializes in, among other
things, producing high-quality cycling maps. It was Adventure Cycling which,
in 1976, created the TransAmerica bike trail, the 4,250 mile route that
we originally intended to ride. Fortunately, Adventure Cycling has a wide
variety of other routes, allowing the cyclist to choose what terrain and
climate he/she would like to ride. The maps are critical for the touring
cyclist, in that they provide location and contact information for campgrounds,
restaurants, hotels, grocery stores, and more. Until recently, all Adventure
Cycling maps were in a three color format. Now, they come in full color,
and are much more sharp and easy to read. Every year, Adventure Cycling
puts out an addendum for each of their maps, so that the information for
each map section is always up to date.
