From <a href=\"http:\/\/mappoint.msn.com\/(xr4ltirrkzqlpa45d2co2kyi)\/directions.aspx?&amp;StartName=10977&amp;StartLocation=41.12199%2c-74.04257&amp;EndName=07647&amp;EndLocation=41.00987%2c-73.94385&amp;DataSetLangID=USA%2c409&amp;RouteType=Shortest&amp;RouteUnit=Miles\" target=\"_blank\">Monsey to Rockleigh<\/a> (at least the way I went) was 14.74 miles.  Here are the stats:<\/p>\n<p>Update: I re-measured my wheel circumference, and discovered that the cycle computer thought my wheel&#8217;s circumference was 3.7% less than it really is. I&#8217;ve updated all the statistics for the &#8220;go to work&#8221; rides.<\/p>\n<p>Elevation change: 450 foot drop (0.58% average grade)<br \/>Time: 55:28<br \/>Average Speed: <strike>16.72 MPH<\/strike> 17.34 MPH<br \/>Max Speed: <strike>40.8 MPH<\/strike> 42.3 MPH<\/p>\n<p>I used my <a href=\"http:\/\/linearrecumbent.com\/images\/protoimage_01_lg.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">linear recumbent<\/a> (mine was originally an underseat steering model like the one on the left, but I converted it to overseat steering so it looks more like the one on the right) with my <a href=\"http:\/\/www-users.cs.umn.edu\/~wymore\/zzip.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Zzip fairing<\/a> (shown on my tandem, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www-users.cs.umn.edu\/~wymore\/thebike.htm\" target=\"_blank\">rolling thunder<\/a>&#8220;).  The ride went well, despite it being 80 degrees with 95% humidity.  Blech.  The ride home will be even nastier, I suspect.<\/p>\n<p><i>Update:<\/i> Here are the stats for the return trip:<\/p>\n<p>Distance: <strike>14.64<\/strike> 15.18 (I went back a slightly different way)<br \/>Time: 1:10:00<br \/>Avg Speed: <strike>12.81MPH<\/strike> 13.28 MPH<br \/>Max Speed: <strike>35.8 MPH<\/strike> 37.1 MPH<\/p>\n<p>It was <i>really<\/i> hot and wet going back, and I definitely noticed the elevation gain!
