San Juan / Victoria Adventure
6/8/01 - 6/12/01


On Friday, we drove up to Anacortes, Washington and spent Shabbos in a hotel there.  Early Sunday morning (June 10th) we boarded a ferry (with our car) through the San Juan Islands on the way to Victoria, British Columbia :


After getting off the ferry in Sydney, we drove South towards Victoria.  On the way, we stopped to visit the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory .  The 1.8 meter Reflector was once the largest in the world:





Here's Trish (with -3 month old Mechel) in front of a replica of the Plaskett mirror.  I'm reflected in the mirror:





Next, we stopped at the Butchart Gardens .  We spent several hours roaming the 55 acre grounds:

Finally, the ferry arrived in Victoria.  The only thing we saw that day in Victoria was the Wax Museum (throughly creepy):
