Rocket Ride to victory!

I rode the rocket ride for the first time with my new bike on Sunday, and actually finished it. I was running a bit late, so I drove to Sparkill, then rode North until I met the ride between Nyack and Piermont. I fell back through the Peleton on the hills at then end of South Mountain Road and Scratchup Road and manage to stay with a group of 7 poursuivants until the end. Typically I start at mile 30 of the ride in Nanuet and get dropped on those hills. Hooray!

22.8 MPH over the 41.5 miles I was with the group. I then had to ride back to Sparkill to get the car. I put in about 49.5 miles in total. I stopped at Toga where they told me my stem angle was two low, so I revesed the shim to get it to be horizonal. We'll see if that helps.

Here's the map. East in up. Sprakill is in the top center of the route:

The record falls

20.6 MPH Average on the way to work today.

Speedily on the new bike

I broke my all-time speed records the first time I rode my new bike to work. I averaged 20.5MPH riding in (19.1 previous best) and 17.7 back (16.9 previous best). Wow!

Sunday Ride

I did a ride with the local bike club from New City up to the tower at the top of Bear Mountain and back.

Here are some pictures - I think I need a real camera, not the one in my phone.

Rich and Steve ascending the big hill:

Coog and Jenni over the top (of the hill):

After leaving BSJ (Bee-Stung-Jenni) at 11am, I climbed towards Perkins. I met Rich and Steve while climbing Perkins Drive at around 11:20am. I found Coog at the top:

These sleeping folks made a nice picture:

The tower:

Coog and I rode back together, but he stopped at "The Cove" and I kept going. I rode into Stony Point park and walked around a bit, then rode back to New City.

Here's the ride profile. North is on the left:

Great ride y'all!

The bike I actually bought

While I do prefer the red color of my dream bike, I ended up buying the black version:

Awesome.
