This week’s Rocket Ride

I started at the beginning in Nyack and finished with the peleton! 35 miles at 22MPH average.

This week’s rides

This past Sunday the Rocket Ride was intense. The riders were out for blood and we were going so fast the peleton fragmented several times between Sparkill and Engelwood. We rode from Rockleigh to Demarest holding a sustained 31.5MPH! I was dropped after 30 miles in Orangeburg, only 8 miles from the finish in Nyack.

Tour de Rockleigh went well yesterday. I rode through the Rockland Psychiatric Center to get the route down to 17.2 miles. Again, 18.7MPH average.

South Moutain hike

The four of us hiked a bit on the Long Path, like Mechel and I did in December of 2004. We were only out for an hour or so, as the sun was setting. Here are some pictures:

Fun!

Back in the running

Thanks to last week’s two “Tour De Rockleigh” rides, I was able to finish the Rocket Ride. It’s the shorter winter route now, and I was running late, so Idrove to Rockleigh where I rode with what turned out to be a breakaway group. I held on for about 30 minutes before being dropped in Engelwood. The main pack caught up with me about 10 minutes later, and I managed to hang on ’till the end. The route comes back through Old Tappan, so when they headed towards Sparkill I turned South to get back to my car in Rockleigh.

29.6 miles, 21.7MPH average.

Another Tour De Lunch

Route modifications have it down to about 18.5 miles:

Again, 18.7MPH average.
